International Conference - Wonder, Education, and Human Flourishing

Wonder-full education and human flourishing: stimulating children’s learning, morality, and spirituality is a three-year research project on the importance of wonder in education. Educators want to do more than transmit information. They hope to inspire. They hope their students will flourish throughout their lives. But just how can education inspire? How can education help people to flourish?

Submissions are invited for the conference Wonder, Education, and Human Flourishing. The main theme of the conference is the role of wonder in education and children’s development, and its relation to children’s (present or future) flourishing. It is an explicit purpose of the conference to bring together educational theorists, education scientists, philosophers, psychologists and members of other disciplines interested in wonder (or closely related topics) and its relation to education and/or human flourishing. Conceptual, normative, and empirical papers are all welcome. Contributors are expected to discuss wonder or closely related topics, preferably in relation to children’s education, development, and/or flourishing. Possible topics for contributions are:

How to register

Registration is always for the whole (2-day) conference. The standard conference fee is € 200, the reduced fee, for (PhD) students, is € 100. The conference fee covers lunches and refreshments, but not the optional conference diner and not accommodation (see below). You can register for the conference here.

The conference will be held at Hotel Casa, just 200 metres from train, metro, tram and bus station Amsterdam Amstel. The address is Eerste Ringdijkstraat 4, Amsterdam.
