The special satellite symposium on the ethical and legal aspects of maternal-fetal surgery and tissue engineering for congenital birth defects

On behalf of the European Programme on Soft-Tissue Engineering for Children (EuroSTEC: LSHB-CT-2006-037409, http://eurostec.eu/) and on the occasion of the last consortium meeting that will take place in Amsterdam, the 21st of November, we would like to invite you to attend the special satellite symposium on the ethical and legal aspects of maternal-fetal surgery and tissue engineering for congenital birth defects.

Keynote speakers will be Prof. Dr. Frank Chervenak, Director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center in the U.S., and Prof. Dr. Kris Dierickx, Professor of Medical Ethics at the Faculty of Medicine, K.U. Leuven, in Belgium.

Both invited speakers have written extensively about topics in and around the ethics of maternal-fetal surgery and of tissue engineering. They were asked to present their recent work on those topics and were invited to engage in a dialogue and debate with the public at the symposium.
