Latvian Medical Ethics Committees (acc. The Privireal website)

At the moment of publishing the new www.ceg.nl website it seems that Latvia has not a national committee on (bio)(medical ethics. The link below is from Privireal (Privacy in Research Ethics & Law).

Privireal mentions ‘a Central Medical Ethics Committee in Latvia that was established by the Cabinet of Ministers in 1998. It is an independent committee which in addition to reviewing research projects, publishes opinions, recommendations and informs the public on bioethical issues. There are also three independent ethics committees (REC’s) that consider clinical trials. Approval from both an ethics committee and the State Agency of Medicine is required for trials to go ahead.’
The website of Privireal contains a summary of Latvian REC’s.
